Polo Match OfficialsFlagmenWhen the ball goes over and across the goal line or end line, the Flagman, also called a Goal Judge, signals with a flag whether or not a goal has been scored. The position of Flagman is potentially dangerous and they must remain alert to avoid being trampled. The Flagman waves the flag overhead to signal a goal has been scored. The Flagman waves the flag at the feet to signal the ball has gone over and across the end line but without passing between the goal posts. If no goal is scored, the Flagman places the ball on the field at the appropriate spot for a Knock-In. The authority of the Flagmen is subordinate to the final authority of the Umpires. |
