George Haas

George Haas George Haas won his first trophy at Yale in 1938 and, for the next 62 years, competed and won numerous club and high-goal tournaments including: winning the East Coast Open three times, the Monty Waterbury three times and the Arena Sherman Memorial.

He was a chairman of the Polo Training Foundation, Chairman of the USPA Safety and International Committees, and served as governor of the Northeastern Circuit.

George was always gracious and kind to everyone he met. He was always up and ready to play polo, the game he loved and lived.

George was also president of Gulfstream Polo Club where he unselfishly assisted any polo cause.

Among George's proudest achievements was his determined work in developing a new and improved safety helmet as well as representing the polo interests of the United States in the organization and development of the Federation of International Polo.
George will be missed by all who knew him.

George Haas was inducted into the Polo Museum Hall of Fame 2002.

George Haas passed away on June 12, 2006 from health complications.
